What Is Solea?
Solea is the first CO2 dental laser system cleared by the FDA for hard, soft and osseous tissue procedures. It was developed in Boston, Massachusetts by Convergent Dental, based on research conducted at the University of California School of Dentistry.
Solea offers a unique wavelength guided by sophisticated computers to deliver virtually painless dental procedures on both teeth and gums, from simple cavities to complex surgeries.
The experience is so unique that you will find it hard to believe you were just at a dental appointment.
Why Solea?
Thanks to Solea, the majority of hard and soft tissue procedures at Ariata Dental are done with virtually no anesthesia and soft tissue procedures are done with virtually no bleeding.
Blood-free and anesthesia-free procedures represent a major leap forward in dentistry, because we can execute multi-quadrant dentistry, fillings on the fly and soft tissue procedures in a single appointment. But what does that mean for you, our patient?
You are now able to receive the care you need in a fraction of the time. When patients have anesthesia they typically leave the office with that numb feeling still prevalent.
With Solea, you can go right out to lunch or back to work without that numb sensation following your appointment. Solea is truly changing what it means to go to the dentist. For more information on Solea, please visit convergentdental.com.
Additional Treatments
Dr. Hosseini primarily uses the Solea laser for dental treatments. But the laser has more than one application. Our Ariata Dental team also uses it to help with snoring and lip and tongue ties.
Snoring Treatment
Do you or your partner snore at night? If so, you might struggle with sleep apnea. The Solea laser can help with snoring and sleep apnea through a non-invasive treatment called Solea Sleep.
Solea Sleep works by tightening and stiffening the soft palate (often the source of snoring). When the soft tissues at the back of the throat relax, they can block your airway. A blocked airway causes vibrations that lead to snoring or even obstructive sleep apnea.
The Solea laser uses targeted energy to induce collagen production in these tissues. It’ll make them firmer and less likely to collapse or vibrate. The treatment is quick, painless, and typically doesn’t require anesthesia.
Patients often experience a noticeable reduction in snoring right away. Less snoring improves the quality of your sleep (and your partner’s, too!).
Lip & Tongue Ties
The Solea laser helps treat lip and tongue ties. It offers our Gurnee neighbors a fast and easy alternative to traditional methods.
Lip and tongue ties occur when the small piece of tissue (the frenulum) connecting the lip or tongue to the mouth is too tight. Kids who struggle with lip and tongue ties tend to have issues with breastfeeding, speech development, and oral health.
The Solea laser allows dentists to release this tissue with precision It minimizes discomfort, bleeding, and the need for sutures. Unlike traditional procedures that use scalpels or scissors, the Solea laser doesn't require general anesthesia in most cases, and recovery time is much faster.
Solea treatment can improve feeding almost immediately for infants to make breastfeeding easier. For older children and even adults, it can result in better speech clarity and improved oral health.
